Metal Welding
The welding of metal sheets is used to obtain a permanent connection of metal parts with a continuity of the material.
The main feature of welding is the creation of monolithic structures that do not have a discontinuity of characteristics despite the presence of joints. This aspect is very important when mechanical strength of the piece uniform product is required and as well as a uniform resistance to external agents (e.g. corrosion).
According to the AWS abbreviations the main welding techniques are:
- OFW - Oxyfuel Gas Welding
- SMAW - Shielded Metal Arc Welding
- SAW - Submerged Arc Welding
- GMAW - Gas Metal Arc Welding (MIG/MAG)
- GTAW - Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (TIG)
- PAW - Plasma Arc Welding
- ESW - Electorslag Welding
- EGW - Electorgas Welding
- LBW - Laser Beam Welding
- EBW - Electron Beam Welding
- RW - Resistance Welding
- FSW - Friction Stir Welding
