Metal Welding

The welding of metal sheets is used to obtain a permanent connection of metal parts with a continuity of the material.

The main feature of welding is the creation of monolithic structures that do not have a discontinuity of characteristics despite the presence of joints. This aspect is very important when mechanical strength of the piece uniform product is required and as well as a uniform resistance to external agents (e.g. corrosion).

According to the AWS abbreviations the main welding techniques are:

  • OFW - Oxyfuel Gas Welding
  • SMAW - Shielded Metal Arc Welding
  • SAW - Submerged Arc Welding
  • GMAW - Gas Metal Arc Welding (MIG/MAG)
  • GTAW - Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (TIG)
  • PAW - Plasma Arc Welding
  • ESW - Electorslag Welding
  • EGW - Electorgas Welding
  • LBW - Laser Beam Welding
  • EBW - Electron Beam Welding
  • RW - Resistance Welding
  • FSW - Friction Stir Welding
